Prof. Takakazu Yumoto is the President of Japan Food Study College. He has studied ecology and primatology for 45 years in Kyoto University. He was the Director of Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University from 2016 to 2022, and the President of Ecological Society of Japan from 2020 to 2022. He has been in many tropical countries including Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Malaysia, Thailand, Colombia and Brazil to study wild primates. Also, he led a transdisciplinary project “ New Cultural and Historical Exploration into Human-Nature Relationships in the Japanese Archipelago” involving ca. 120 researchers both in natural sciences and humanity in Research Institute for Humanity and Nature, Japan during 2003- 2010. His main interest in food study is the various approaches from primates’ feeding ecology, cultural and historical views of human being to a global environmental issue.
